Restaurant Spotlight 🍽

Mi Tierra Caliente is a downtown Summerville restaurant bringing the flavors of Guerrero, Mexico, to the Lowcountry. It’s a spot that works just as well for a quick lunch as it does for a family dinner, with a menu built on recipes that highlight spice, freshness, and comfort.

The standouts are easy to spot. The puerco en chile verde—pork simmered in a green chile sauce—has a rich flavor with just the right kick. The enchiladas are done in a way that feels different from the standard versions you’ll find elsewhere, and the tacos are as solid as they come. If you want something lighter, the shrimp salad works well, and on a cooler day, a bowl of beef broth hits the spot.

Inside, the space is laid back and comfortable. You can walk in wearing work clothes or come with the family on a Sunday and feel at home either way. The staff are quick with a smile, and the food comes out steady, giving you time to enjoy without feeling like you’re on the clock.

What ties it together is the attention to freshness. Mi Tierra Caliente makes a point of using local ingredients when they can, which shows in the quality of the dishes. It’s the kind of restaurant that adds real variety to Summerville’s dining scene while keeping things simple—good food, served well.

Featured Pup of the Week: Droopina 🐶

Meet Droopina, the one-year-old Shepard mix who has been at Dorchester Paws for almost 2 months now!

From Dorchester Paws:

“This one-year-old, 35-lb shepherdy mix may be small, but she’s bursting with energy and personality. Droopina thrives when she’s busy especially with things like fetch, tug-of-war, toys of all kinds, you name it, she’s in!

Droopina is looking for a dedicated adopter who understands her need for both physical activity and mental enrichment. She would do best with another tolerant, playful pup in the home who can be both be her buddy and help guide her in learning appropriate doggy manners.

All Droopina wants is a family who will put in the time, patience, and love she deserves. 💛 Stop by any day to meet her!”
