Restaurant Spotlight

Not Your Average Wings definitely lives up to its name. The Summerville spot offers more than 30 flavors of wings—from classic buffalo to creative mixes like mango habanero and jerk—plus Southern sides like fried okra and cheesy grits.
The restaurant is woman-owned and locally run by Priscilla Bloedoorn, who brings a blend of Southern and West African influence to the kitchen. Her focus on flavor and community has helped turn the shop into a neighborhood favorite. Staff are known for being friendly and quick with recommendations, which adds to the relaxed, local feel.

Wings are cooked to order, with crisp skin and sauces that lean bold without being overwhelming. Reviews often highlight the balance of spice and sweetness in flavors like garlic parmesan, bourbon barbecue, and honey hot. Portions are generous, and combo plates make it easy to taste a few styles in one visit.
NYA Wings is located at 1200 N. Main St, Suite B in Summerville, and is open daily from 11:00AM. On Monday through Thursday and Sunday, they close at 9:00PM; on Fridays and Saturdays, they stay open until 11:00PM.
Featured Pup of the Week: Thelma 🐶
Meet Thelma, The 11-month-old mixed breed who is currently being fostered through Dorchester Paws!

From Dorchester Paws
“At just 11 months old, Thelma came to the shelter unsure of the world around her and needing a little extra love to learn that people and pups can be pretty great.
In just 4 short weeks in foster, she’s blossomed into a happy, confident girl who’s ready to find her forever family. This is why fostering is so important, outside the shelter, dogs like Thelma get the chance to grow, learn, and truly shine.
Here’s what her foster has to say about her: “Thelma loves other dogs, is respectful towards cats, loves car rides, is great in the crate, and waits to potty outside. She’s eager to learn and is working hard on learning all her manners. She’d be so happy in a home with doggy companions!”
