Restaurant Spotlight

Top of the Tap Greek Taverna, owned by Carolyn and Daniel Dominguez, has quickly become a beloved local spot since its opening in August 2023. The Dominguezes, longtime residents of Summerville, transformed the former Opa Cafe into a vibrant taverna that marries their love for Greek cuisine with a community-centric atmosphere.

Danny, drawing from his early restaurant experience, collaborated with Opa Cafe's previous owner, Tom Tsivelekidis, to preserve cherished recipes and introduce new delights. Their vision: a place where neighbors become family over shared meals and stories. Top of the Tap's menu is a testament to Greek culinary traditions. Patrons can savor dishes like spanakopita, lamb gyros, chicken and steak souvlaki, falafel, dolmades, and the ever-popular baklava.

Complementing the food is an impressive selection of over 25 craft beers, including local brews like Frothy Beard Brewing Company’s Positive Vibes, and a curated list of Greek wines. Beyond its delectable offerings, Top of the Tap serves as a community hub. The Dominguezes have introduced events like Thursday night team trivia, happy hour specials, and seasonal activities such as wreath-making classes. Their goal is to provide a space where locals can gather, relax, and enjoy quality time without venturing far from home.

Located at 10150 Dorchester Road, Top of the Tap operates Tuesday through Saturday from 11AM to 9PM, with the kitchen closing at 8:30PM. Top of the Tap Greek Taverna offers not just a meal, but an experience—a place where authentic flavors meet genuine community spirit!

Featured Pup of the Week: Melvin 🐕

Meet Melvin, a the 7-year-old mixed breed who is a current resident at Dorchester Paws. Just look at that smile!

From Dorchester Paws:

“7 years old, approximately 7ish teeth, and still the most eligible bachelor in town. ❤

Melvin is a professional leaf-cruncher, part-time goofball, and full-time good boy. He’s looking for a human to laugh at his jokes, share snacks (preferably soft ones), and promise to be his one and only — because Melvin is a single-dog-home kinda guy. He may be missing a few teeth, but he’s got plenty of love (and drool) to go around. Come meet this charming senior sweetheart and see if he’s your perfect match!”
