Restaurant Spotlight

You’ve seen Top Dawg Tavern featured in Summerville Weekly for their weekly live music, but they also have some of the best bar food in town!
The starters alone make a strong case to visit, with fried green tomatoes topped with pimento cheese and bacon, loaded potato skins, jumbo pretzels with dipping sauces, and sweet-and-spicy fried shrimp bringing a mix of Southern flavor and classic comfort to the table.

Burgers are a centerpiece, built on fresh Angus beef and served with familiar sides like fries or tots. From traditional cheeseburgers to versions stacked with bacon or mushrooms and Swiss, they keep things hearty and straightforward. The sandwich lineup is just as solid, featuring a tavern cheesesteak layered with peppers and provolone, fried flounder, barbecue bacon chicken, and even creative hot dogs — including Southern-style options topped with barbecue pork and slaw.
For those leaning lighter, entrée salads like a Cobb or Caesar come generously portioned, while dinner plates such as fish and chips, brisket mac and cheese, sweet bourbon salmon, and pot roast round out the menu with full-meal options.

It’s a kitchen built around variety — whether you’re in the mood for something fried and shareable, stacked high on a bun, or served hot on a plate.
Featured Pup of the Week: Darius 🐶
Meet Darius, the 5-year-old Chihuahua mix who is a current resident at Dorchester Paws!

From Dorchester Paws:
“Hi… I’m Darius. I’m 5 years old, which I think is a pretty great age. I’m not a wild puppy anymore, but I still have lots of love tucked away once I feel safe.
Right now I’m being as brave as I can. The shelter is loud and busy, and for a little guy like me, that can feel really big and overwhelming. I try to sit up tall and act confident, but sometimes my heart beats fast when there’s too much noise or too many new people all at once.
I’m a shy boy. I don’t show my whole personality right away, you have to give me a little time. But if you move slowly and let me come to you, I promise I’ll start to show you who I really am.
Because I’m sensitive and can get startled easily, I’d do best in a calm, adult-only home. Little humans are unpredictable and fast, and that makes me nervous. I just feel safer in a quiet space where I can relax and be myself. I’ll be waiting here doing my best, one small brave step at a time. 🐾”
