Restaurant Spotlight

We’re venturing outside of Summerville for this week’s Restaurant Spotlight, and it’s definitely worth the drive to Park Circle in North Charleston if you haven’t given Jackrabbit Filly a try.
The menu is made for sharing, so this is a better place to go with two or three people instead of just ordering one dish for yourself. You can get a handful of plates for the table and try a little bit of everything.
You’ll usually find things like dumplings, fried rice, noodles, crispy chicken, and other small plates that are easy to split. The food has tons of flavor, but it doesn’t feel overdone. It’s the kind of place where you can order a few things you recognize, then add one or two dishes you’ve never tried before.

The fried rice is the kind of dish that works with pretty much anything else on the table. The dumplings are an easy order. If there’s a crispy chicken dish on the menu, that’s also a safe bet. A lot of the food is rich, salty, spicy, crispy, or some mix of all of that, which makes it a fun place to order around the table and pass plates back and forth.
The restaurant itself has a casual feel, but it still feels like a real night out. It’s not stiff or formal. It’s more of a lively dinner spot where the food comes out, the table fills up fast, and everyone starts picking at different plates.
That’s what makes Jackrabbit Filly fun. You don’t really go there for one big entree. You go there to order a bunch of food and try things.
They’re located at 1083 East Montague Avenue in North Charleston and serve lunch and dinner Wednesday through Saturday. They also have a bar, so you can stop in for drinks and a few plates if you don’t want to do a full dinner.

Reservations are a good idea, especially for dinner.
Jackrabbit Filly is a good pick when you want Chinese American food that feels a little more creative than takeout, but still easy to enjoy. Go with a small group, order a few more dishes than you think you need, and let everyone fight over the last bite.
Featured Pup of the Week: Billy 🐶
Meet Billy, the 3-year-old pitbull who is a current resident at Dorchester Paws!

This week, we’re hearing from Summerville resident Melissa Matos who had the opportunity to take Billy out on a doggie date! Here’s what Melissa had to say:
“Billy is such a sweetie! He met many people, children and other dogs with a wagging tail and friendly face. We visited Petsmart, (tried on some hats), Lowe’s, Culver’s, and the Farmers Market. He tried a pup cup but wasn’t a big fan. Billy is 3 years old, heartworm negative, and does well with other dogs. Call for more info or visit the shelter to meet him and all the other great dogs and kittens available. 🐾😁”
