If you haven’t been to Bexley yet, consider this your nudge.
It’s located right on West Richardson in downtown Summerville, but it feels like something you’d stumble across on a Charleston side street. There’s a big open bar, a cozy dining room, and a dog-friendly patio that gets some good golden hour light — aka perfect oyster weather.
Chef Jeremy Holst (who’s spent time in some big-name Charleston kitchens) keeps things interesting. You’ll find a rotating list of raw bar staples like oysters, tuna crudo, and shrimp cocktail. But also warm, comfort dishes like scallops with green pea purée, fried fish sandwiches, and whatever seasonal veggies are looking good that week.

Pro tip: the sides here aren’t an afterthought. Order them.
Drinks are another strong suit. Whether you’re into cocktails, wine, or just a cold beer, the bar has something you’ll want to sip while waiting for your food. And if you show up on the weekend, be ready for a crowd — and for the food to be worth the wait!
Bexley is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5–9 PM and Friday–Saturday from 4–10 PM. You can grab a table or book ahead at bexleysummerville.com.
It’s not trying too hard, which is probably why it works. Give it a try — and don’t be surprised if it becomes your go-to spot!
Featured Pup of the Week: Tulip 🌷
Meet Tulip, the 3-year-old hound mix who is a current resident at Dorchester Paws!

From Dorchester Paws:
“🌸 TULIP: PROFESSIONAL TOY CRINKLER & ZOOMIE QUEEN 🌸
Not just a dog — this is a 3-year-old, all-white, hound-shaped marshmallow with a minor crinkle toy obsession and a major case of the zoomies.
She’s a little shy at first — but give her a moment (and maybe a dog friend to hype her up), and she’ll be doing victory laps in no time. She’s part wallflower, part comedian, and 100% ready to blossom in a forever home. ❤”
