Restaurant Spotlight

Nonna’s Italian Deli is a family-owned shop serving the kind of food that requires two hands, several napkins and absolutely no plans for a light lunch afterward.
Owners Rick and Phyllis Riccio moved to Summerville after spending much of their lives in New York and New Jersey. Retirement was apparently the original plan. Instead, they decided the area needed an old-school Italian deli and opened Nonna’s, naming it in honor of Rick’s mother, Angela.
The menu is built around big, freshly made sandwiches. The Italian comes stacked with ham, salami, hot capicola and provolone. The South Philly cheesesteak uses shaved ribeye and Cooper sharp white American cheese on bread brought down from Philadelphia. There are also chicken cutlet sandwiches, roast beef with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers, pork roll, egg and cheese, and enough other options to make ordering feel like a serious commitment.

Nonna’s makes its mozzarella in-house and also offers classic Italian comfort food like chicken parmigiana, chicken marsala, lasagna, penne vodka, spaghetti and meatballs, fried ravioli and arancini. Around the shop, you will also find imported meats, cheeses, olives, sauces, pasta and Italian drinks that are difficult to find at a normal grocery store.
Then there is the dessert case: cannolis, tiramisu, Italian rum cake, rainbow cookie torte, cheesecake, cookies and cream puffs.

One thing to know before visiting is that Nonna’s operates more like a traditional counter-service deli than a sit-down restaurant. Everything is made fresh, so your order may take a few extra minutes, especially when the lunch crowd arrives. The good news is that Azalea Park is directly across the street, giving you a perfectly good place to sit down and eat your sandwich.
Nonna’s Italian Deli is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM-6PM at 129 South Main Street in Summerville.
Featured Pup of the Week: Karma 🐶
Meet Karma, the 3-year-old pitbull mix who has been with Dorchester Paws since May!

From Dorchester Paws:
“💛 Karma is waiting... and she's hoping her people find her soon 💙
For the past 2 months, Karma has been patiently waiting for someone to choose her. At just 3 years old, she's the kind of dog who simply wants to be by your side.
Karma is wonderful with other dogs and has a calm, easygoing personality. She loves to sniff every interesting smell on a walk, ride along for a car trip, or enjoy a well-deserved pup cup!
Shelter life has been especially hard on Karma. While some dogs show their stress by barking or pacing, Karma quietly shuts down. She gets sad and spends much of her time lying down, waiting for someone to notice her gentle heart.🥰
She deserves so much more than a kennel. She is ready to be someone's loyal companion! And if you're unable to adopt right now, you can still make a world of difference by taking her on a Doggie Date! A few hours outside the shelter can brighten her entire day.✨
Come meet Karma at Dorchester Paws or take her on an adventure. One visit could change her life and yours forever.”
