Restaurant Spotlight

If you’re craving something fast, fresh, and reliably good, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill in Carnes Crossroads is an easy win. It’s counter-service, but the food punches well above the “quick lunch” category, especially if you’re tired of burgers and fried everything.

The menu sticks to the classics and does them right. The gyro is shaved hot and piled into a warm pita, the chicken souvlaki is juicy and well-seasoned, and the falafel has that crisp-outside, soft-inside texture that’s harder to find than it should be. Plates come with rice, salad, and pita, so you actually leave full without feeling wrecked.

Don’t skip the sides. The spanakopita is flaky and rich without being heavy, the hummus is smooth and garlicky, and the tzatziki tastes like it was made that morning (because it probably was). Finish with baklava if you have room—it’s sweet, sticky, and worth the extra forkfuls.

Where they quietly stand out is desserts and drinks. The baklava is the headliner, but the rice pudding is underrated—lightly sweet, cinnamon-forward, and a nice change of pace if you don’t want something overly sugary. If they have the Greek iced coffee or frappe on hand, grab one—it’s strong, slightly sweet, and perfect if this is a lunch stop that still has meetings on the other side.

Put The Great Greek in the rotation and you’ll find yourself coming back more often than expected.
