Restaurant Spotlight

Hokkaido Ramen House has become a solid go-to spot in Summerville for anyone craving ramen and other Japanese comfort food. The menu sticks to the basics and does them well, which is a big part of its appeal.

Ramen is obviously what they’re known for - the broths are rich without being heavy, and the noodles have a good bite to them. Popular choices include tonkotsu and miso ramen, both served hot and generously topped. The pork is tender, the eggs are well cooked, and the bowls are filling without being overwhelming. If you’re new to ramen, it’s an easy place to start; if you already know what you like, it’s easy to find a reliable favorite.

Beyond ramen, the menu has plenty to offer. Gyoza is a strong choice—crispy on the outside and soft inside. Rice bowls and curry dishes are straightforward, satisfying options, especially if you’re in the mood for something other than soup. Portions are reasonable, and the food comes out quickly, making it a good lunch stop as well as a dinner option.

The restaurant itself is casual and comfortable. It works just as well for a quick solo meal as it does for families or small groups. Service is friendly and efficient, which keeps things moving without feeling rushed.

Hokkaido is a dependable place to get a delicious bowl of ramen and a few familiar Japanese dishes right here in Summerville.
