Wednesday, February 19th

  • Kid’s Crafternoon: DIY Picture Frames 🖼️ | Summerville Library: kids ages 8-12 can learn how to make their own picture frames from foam. This event runs from 4-5 and you can register your kids for free by clicking the event title above.

  • Live Music: Mike Freund 🎸 | Top Dawg Tavern: Mike is a talented American Blues Rock singer/songwriter, guitarist and recording artist, and will be playing at the Top Dawg Tavern from 7-10PM. In addition to playing solo gigs, he is also the frontman for Mike Freund Band. He plays original songs as well as covers from Rock, Pop and Adult Contemporary genres!

Live Music 🎸 :

  • HOOKED | Montreux Bar and Grill: the popular cover band HOOKED will be performing on the main stage at 10PM.

  • Greg Guay | Bolts and Brews: Greg’s guitar talents and versatility range from Bach to Beatles; traditional Spanish and Latin works to modern improvisation and composition. He will be playing from 4:30-7:30PM and be accompanied by the Aseala Food Truck.

  • Jack Triebold | Top Dawg Tavern: Jack is a talented singer and guitarist who plays all of your favorites from pop/rock to country, club/dance covers to instrumental and classical! 8-11PM.

Saturday, February 22nd

  • Sketch Summerville 🎨 | Public Works Art Center: sketch with pencil, ink, watercolors or whatever media you like best. Bring your chosen media and meet other people interested in sketching in Summerville. This event is intended for adults and teens 14+. Cost is $5 and the event starts at 2PM.

  • International Dinner 🍽️ | Seventh Day Adventist Church: enjoy a variety of food from more than 16 different countries, free of charge! This event starts at 6:30PM.

  • S’Mores Night | Bolts and Brews: bring the family and enjoy roasting marshmallows, stacking up chocolate and graham crackers, and making sweet memories. This event starts at 5PM.

  • Dolphin Dash Fun Run 🐬 | Newington Elementary School: join Newington Elementary School for their annual 5K and 1 Mile Kids Fun Run. The cost for the 5k is $40, and cost for the 1 Mile Fun Run is $15, with all proceeds going to the Newington Elementary School PTA. 5k starts at 8AM, and the Fun Run starts at 9AM.

  • Morning Octane Monthly Event (Car Show) 🏎️ | Jax Wax Summerville: get those rides ready and head on down to Jax Wax at 2885 West Fifth N Street in Summerville. All are welcome - Cars, Trucks, Bikes, New School & Old School. The event will run from 9am-12pm, featuring a live DJ, product demos, and exclusive promotions. There will be complimentary donuts while they last, so you’re gonna want to get there early!

Saturdays

  • Winter Farmers Market | Coastal Coffee Roasters: every Saturday morning from 9AM-1PM, Coastal Coffee Roasters in Summerville hosts various local vendors for a mini winter farmers market!

Restaurant Spotlight: Gilligan’s Seafood Restaurant 🍤

Gilligan’s is a local seafood chain with locations in Summerville, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, Johns Island, and Beaufort.

While all of their locations have similar delicious menus, we especially like their Moncks Corner location, as it’s located along the Tailrace Canal and allows you to enjoy a waterfront meal without the long drive to Charleston!

They have some fun menu items like deep fried frog legs and gator bites, as well as classic lowcountry seafood staples like peel n’ eat shrimp and raw oysters.

If you’re not big on seafood, they also serve cheeseburgers and buffalo chicken sandwiches. We actually tried one of their buffalo chicken sandwiches, which we were skeptical to order at a seafood restaurant, but it ended up being one of the best we’ve had!

This week, I had the pleasure of taking Augustus out on a doggie date from Dorchester Paws!

As I was walking around the shelter deciding which pup to take on a doggie date, I walked by Augustus and he sat in front of me and put his paw up on the cage, giving me the classic puppy dog eyes - almost as if he knew exactly what he was doing! Safe to say it worked.

He is such a happy dog and absolutely loved being the center of attention! He enjoyed rolling around in the grass, and was just content hanging out wherever he could get lots of pets.

Augustus went on a walk through downtown Summerville and hung out in Hutchinson park where he contemplated hopping in the fountain. As we were leaving the park, he was a bit confused when the statue of a women sitting in a chair didn’t want to pet him.🤣

Unfortunately, Augustus got sick in the car on the way back to the shelter - which he felt really bad about. He may not have spent much time in the car before, but it’s also possible that the salmon treats I gave him just didn’t sit right.
