Now in its 43rd year, SEWE continues to be the largest event of its kind in the United States, drawing wildlife enthusiasts, artists, and conservationists from across the nation to the heart of the Lowcountry.
This year's expo promises an array of exciting attractions spread across five major venues in downtown Charleston. Visitors can look forward to the highly curated SEWE Fine Art Gallery, showcasing works from renowned wildlife artists, including 2025 Featured Artist Ray Brown. The event will also feature popular returning favorites such as the thrilling DockDogs® competitions, live demonstrations from the Center for Birds of Prey, and the expanded Sporting Showroom at the Charleston Marriott. For families, the reimagined kids' areas in Brittlebank Park and Marion Square offer educational and interactive experiences, making SEWE a perfect outing for all ages.
SEWE 2025 introduces a new tiered ticketing system, allowing attendees to plan ahead and secure the best rates. With general admission providing access to all venues, shows, and demonstrations, and special events offering more intimate experiences, there's something for every wildlife and outdoor enthusiast. Whether you're an art collector, a nature lover, or simply looking for a unique Charleston experience, SEWE promises an unforgettable weekend that celebrates the beauty and diversity of the natural world.
Restaurant Spotlight

Summerville's culinary scene just got a whole lot flakier with the arrival of Biscuit Belly, the Kentucky-based brunch sensation that opened its doors last week. Located at the corner of West Richardson and Central Avenue, this "craft casual" eatery is already causing quite a stir with its scratch-made biscuits and innovative Southern-inspired menu.
Founded by Chad and Lauren Coulter, former pharmacists turned restaurateurs, Biscuit Belly brings a fresh take on comfort food to our charming town. The concept was born from the Coulters' love for brunch, and it shows in every detail. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a vibrant atmosphere that perfectly balances modern aesthetics with Southern hospitality. The restaurant's unique blue shimmer wall, proudly displaying "Summerville," serves as a testament to their commitment to embracing our community.
But let's talk about the star of the show – the biscuits. Crafted by renowned Bluegrass executive chef Tavis Rockwell, these golden pillows of perfection are the result of three months of recipe refinement. While the exact recipe remains a closely guarded secret, we do know that cake flour plays a crucial role in achieving that melt-in-your-mouth texture.
The menu is a playground for biscuit lovers and brunch enthusiasts alike. Standout items include the "Mama's Boy," featuring buttermilk fried chicken breast, roasted jalapeño pimento cheese, spicy belly pickles, and a fried green tomato, all nestled within their signature biscuit. For those with a sweet tooth, don't miss the "Bonuts" – biscuit donut holes rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with bourbon cream cheese frosting.
Biscuit Belly's arrival in Summerville is more than just a new dining option; it's a celebration of community and culinary craftsmanship. As Clint Umphrey, Vice President of Operations, put it, "We fell in love with Summerville's small-town Southern feel, which continues to draw more families every year.”
We had the opportunity to try out Biscuit Belly at their grand opening last week, check out the Instagram video below to see what we thought. ⬇️
Featured Pup of the Week: Freya 🐾
Meet Freya, the 3 year old hound mix who has been a resident at Dorchester Paws since October. ❤️

We got the chance to take Freya out for a doggie date last week, and here’s how it went:
Freya was the sweetest girl ever, and was really excited to go for a walk, until someone came riding by on a very loud dirt bike. After that, Freya was too scared to continue our walk, so we took her home to hangout in our fenced in yard in hopes that she would settle in and be ready to go back out and meet some potential adopters!
Although she did calm down, we didn’t want to traumatize her and decided to just enjoy the rest of the doggie date at home. Despite being scared and confused, Freya was super friendly and loved getting pets & lots of attention!
At one point, we brought our own dog Coco out in our screened in porch in an attempt to calm Freya down, letting them sniff each other through the screen - and it worked like a charm!
While they never interacted without the barrier between them, Freya seemed to really come out of her shell having Coco nearby, and we think she would do really well with a family who has other dogs to show her the ropes!
To see our doggie date with Freya, check out the Instagram video below. ⬇️
