Restaurant Spotlight

Palmetto Flats serves Southern comfort food that’s familiar, filling, and easy to enjoy. The menu sticks to classic dishes and does them well, which makes it a popular stop for a casual meal in Summerville.

The shrimp and grits is one of the standout plates. The grits are creamy, the shrimp are cooked just right, and the seasoning adds flavor without being too heavy. It’s a go-to order for a reason.

Burgers are another highlight on the menu. The patties are thick and cooked to order, with classic toppings that keep things simple. It’s the kind of burger that’s satisfying from the first bite to the last.

Seafood lovers have plenty of options, especially the fried shrimp and flounder platters. The breading is light, the seafood is tender, and everything comes out hot and fresh.

Starters like fried green tomatoes and loaded fries are easy to share and arrive quickly, making them a good way to start the meal. Portions across the board are generous, so no one leaves hungry.

Located at 975 Bacons Bridge Rd, Palmetto Flats offers solid Southern food with a menu that feels approachable and consistent. If you’re looking for comfort classics done right, it’s a strong choice in Summerville.

Featured Pup of the Week: Michigan 🐶

You may recognize Michigan from our October 7th newsletter, as he is our first ever repeat Pup of the Week, who is still looking for his forever home after 485+ days at Dorchester Paws!

From Dorchester Paws:

ā€œThere are some residents who leave a mark on every person who meets them… and for us, that’s Michigan. This 3-year-old hound has been in our care since August 2024- 485 days of learning the world is safe, of building trust, and of being loved by so many volunteers, staff, fosters, and community members who’ve taken him on doggy dates and welcomed him into their homes.

But we don’t measure his time here in days. We measure it in wins.

In 485 days, Michigan has: • Bonded deeply with staff who show up every day for him • Made friends with every dog he’s ever met • Gained confidence through amazing fosters and foster siblings • Explored parks, neighborhoods, and new adventures with people who simply wanted him to feel special

Michigan is housetrained, crate trained, gentle, and shy in the sweetest way. Because of that, he’ll need a home with another dog to help him feel secure, and older kids who understand how to support a sensitive soul.

He has waited patiently. He has loved unconditionally. And he has taught us more about resilience and quiet courage than he’ll ever know.

Now, we’re hoping the next number we celebrate …is Day 1 in his forever home. šŸ§”ā€
