Restaurant Spotlight

Five Loaves Cafe is known for its rotating soups, stacked sandwiches, and daily specials that lean toward comfort food. The tomato tarragon soup is a regular favorite, and the crab soup shows up often enough that people look for it. Both are commonly paired with a half sandwich for lunch.
Sandwich options include the turkey and brie with apple, the chicken salad on croissant, and the Cuban, all served in generous portions. Salads like the Mediterranean and the steak salad are built to be filling, with plenty of protein and toppings rather than just greens.

Daily specials change, but often include dishes like salmon with Carolina Gold rice, shrimp and grits, or meatloaf with mashed potatoes. There are also vegetarian options and gluten-friendly plates available most days.
The menu changes enough to keep things interesting, but the staples are consistent. If you’re a regular, you tend to have a short list of items you go back to — and a reason to check the specials board each visit.
Featured Pup of the Week:
Meet Sherman, the 6-year-old hound mix who is looking for his forever home just in time for the holidays!

From Dorchester Paws:
“This is Sherman. And after being here for 2.5 months, he's really trying his best. Sherman is a 6-year-old hound with a big heart and a sensitive soul. He’s incredible with other dogs and comes alive around them.
Shelter life has been a lot for him, and new thresholds can feel scary- doorways make him pause, unfamiliar spaces can make him freeze. But if you sit down, give him time, and let him come to you, Sherman melts. He’ll lean in, rest his head on you, and remind you how much love can live inside a quiet dog.
He’s not looking for chaos or a busy household. Young kids would be too much. What Sherman needs is a calm, patient home- one that understands that trust is built slowly, and that the gentlest connections are often the strongest.
His days would be so much brighter with someone to lean on. Maybe his next photo doesn’t include a hat - but a kind human. 💙”
