Restaurant Spotlight 🍽

Alex’s Restaurant has been part of the Summerville community for decades, quietly building a reputation as one of the area’s most reliable spots for comfort food and friendly service. Originally opened in the early 1990s, it began as a small family-run diner with a focus on hearty, homemade meals and a welcoming atmosphere. Over the years, the restaurant has grown—both in size and in following—but the heart of it has stayed the same.
It’s still a family-owned operation, and it shows. Regulars are greeted by name, and new faces are treated with the same warmth. The décor hasn’t changed much, and that’s part of the charm. It feels familiar, consistent—like a place that hasn’t forgotten what makes a neighborhood restaurant meaningful.
The menu at Alex’s covers all the bases. Breakfast is served all day, which means you can get pancakes or a country-style omelet whether it’s 8 AM or 2 in the afternoon. The hash browns come crispy, the biscuits are fluffy, and the coffee’s always fresh. Lunch and dinner options lean toward American diner classics—think meatloaf, fried chicken, open-faced roast beef sandwiches, burgers, and seafood plates.
Everything is made with a clear focus on comfort and flavor rather than flash. Portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable—another reason why locals keep coming back. Whether you’re craving a plate of shrimp and grits or a slice of homemade pie, Alex’s keeps it simple and satisfying.
In a town that’s constantly growing and changing, it’s nice to have places like this—steady, unfussy, and still doing things the right way!
Featured Pup of the Week: Willis 🐶
Meet Willis, the 4-and-a-half-year-old terrier mix who has been at Dorchester Paws since May!
From Dorchester Paws:
“We'd say the best part of Willis' day is his time with Mr. Bill. Just look at those eyes....❤
Willis is the definition of a gentle giant. He's a 4-year-old boy who’s housetrained, walks great on leash, and will sit for just about any treat. He would like to be the apple of your eye and the only pup in the home. What can he say? He loves attention.
Stop by the shelter, take him on a date, and see the amazing boy he is! Willis dreams of exploring the world with his person, he's just waiting to be found. ⭐️”
