Restaurant Spotlight 🍽

If you’ve been looking for something a little different in Summerville’s dining scene, Social Urban Bistro offers just that. Located on Central Avenue, it brings fresh and vibrant Latin cuisine to our town’s table—just the kind of place where you stroll in expecting good food and leave planning your next visit.

At Social Urban Bistro, small plates really shine. The homemade guacamole is flavorful and perfectly paired with chips, and the green fries—crisped and seasoned—have quickly become a standout. Whether it’s the cheese-stuffed Venezuelan tequeños, beef or chicken empanadas, or sweet maduros topped with savory picadillo and cheese, every appetizer has its moment.

When it comes to mains, there’s a satisfying blend of Cuban and Latin-inspired dishes made to order. Think Cuban sandwiches—stacked with ham, Swiss cheese, roast pork shoulder, dill pickles, and a tangy green sauce on fresh bakery bread—or the Pastor and Asada sandwiches, each featuring its own bold marinade and creamy accompaniments. If you want something more substantial, the entrees won’t disappoint: shrimp tossed in garlic butter; rich, coconut-curry chicken; pan-roasted paprika chicken; or a hearty pork shoulder wrapped in banana leaf with creamy garlic sauce, rice, and sweet plantains.

Sweet endings at Social Urban Bistro are just as thoughtful. You’ll find gelatina de mosaico, choco-flan, cornbread, and quesillo napolitano—little bites of sweet, homespun comfort. To wash it all down, choices like hibiscus flower drink, horchata, or café con leche round out the menu in just the right way.

Featured Pup of the Week: Arvada ❤

Meet Arvada, the 6-year-old terrier mix who has been a resident of Dorchester Paws since May!

From Dorchester Paws:

“Meet Arvada — the dog whose ears called it quits halfway through growing. The rest of her? Fully committed.😏 At 6 years old, she’s retired from the whole ‘playtime’ shenanigans, but she’s a pro at peacefully coexisting. Think roommate vibes... she won’t borrow your clothes, but she also won’t invite you to book club. She's one cool gal that loves her walkies, seems to be housetrained, and is irresistibly cute with her travel sized ears. Come take this girl on a date! 💕
