Restaurant Spotlight

Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar sits right in the middle of Summerville annd feels exactly how it sounds—casual, a little loud, and built for hanging out. It’s the kind of place where you show up in a t-shirt, grab a drink, and end up staying longer than planned.

The menu is centered around seafood, with oysters leading the way. You can get them raw, steamed, or grilled depending on what you’re in the mood for. From there, it branches out into all the Lowcountry staples—shrimp, crab legs, and steampots loaded with a mix of shellfish. The shrimp and grits is a standout if you want something a little heavier, and the baskets give you a more classic fried seafood option.

There’s enough variety to keep it flexible. You can go all in on oysters, split a boil with the table, or keep it simple with something fried and a side. It’s the kind of menu that works whether you’re just grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a longer meal.

The space matches the food. It’s laid-back, a little noisy, and built more for comfort than presentation. There’s indoor seating, outdoor tables, and a bar that stays busy. TVs are usually on, drinks are flowing, and the whole place has that steady, casual energy.

It’s straightforward in the best way—seafood & cold drinks!

Featured Pup of the Week: Lucy 🐶

Meet Lucy, the 10-month-old pit mix who is currently being fostered through Dorchester Paws!

From Lucy’s foster:

“Lucy is the sweetest little love bug you could ever meet. She’s gentle, affectionate, and happiest when she’s snuggled up near her people. She sleeps great in her crate, is doing amazing with potty training, and wakes up every morning ready for stretches, tail wags, and kisses. She loves her Good Mornings.

She can be a little shy at first and likes cozy hiding spots when she’s nervous, but once she feels safe, her loving personality really shines. She’s a quiet chewer (toys only please) and has done wonderful living with both dogs and cats. When she’s feeling anxious or settling into her crate, soft classical music helps her relax, and covering her crate with a blanket helps reduce stimulation and makes her feel extra safe.

Lucy is such a special girl who just needs a calm, loving home where she can feel safe and adored. Whoever adopts her is getting a truly loyal little companion.”
