How One Wellness Brand Is Helping America Sleep Better

You know the importance of sleep, but actually getting enough is easier said than done. One wellness brand decided to study the problem and whether CBD could help.

• Earth Day for All Ages 🌎 | Dorchester County Library (Bacons Bridge Rd): celebrate Earth Day with the Dorchester County Library! From 10:30-11:30AM, children ages 5 & under are invited to play with recycled materials, then from 3:30-4:30PM children of all ages can create their own DIY bird feeder. Finally, from 5:30-6:30PM, children and teens ages 12-17 can make their own eco bead bracelets.

• Sound Bath Event 🔊 | Bolts and Brews Beer Garden: join Bolts and Brews for a calming Sound Bath experience inside the greenhouse. Relax, unwind, and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by nature. This event starts at 6PM and the cost is $20.

• Earth Day Walk 🚶 | Marrington Mountain Bike Trail (Goose Creek): this is an easy-paced 3.3-mile walk on the Marrington Lake Loop Trail. The group will meet at Marrington Plantation trailhead at 5:30PM. Water and bug spray are recommended, and this event is open to all ages.

• Joe Wheaton | Top Dawg Tavern: Joe plays a little bit of everything with a focus on acoustic rock, Americana folk and some fun alternative covers! He will be playing on the patio from 7-10PM.

• Byron & Gavin Unplugged | Montanas (Goose Creek): Byron T. Addison and Gavin will be on stage providing some midweek entertainment at Montanas starting at 7PM!

Thursday, April 23rd

• Trivia With Cush 🧠 | Luxe Bar & Bistro: Cush from the Hunter, Jessica & Cush 92.5 morning show is coming to Luxe to do some Trivia starting at 7PM!

• Riding the Wave Paint & Sip 🎨 | Boba Fusion: join Art with Angel for a Paint & Sip experience where you can unwind, get creative, and enjoy a good vibe — no experience needed at all. This paint & sip starts at 6PM and the cost is $38.

If so, please join the ARK Stars for a fun evening of music, food, and brews on from 5:30-8PM. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening with good food, great brews and awesome music by the Taylorboy Trio to benefit The ARK of SC.

• Auction Preview Night 🏷️ | Summerville Catholic School: get ready for one of the most exciting fundraisers of the year! There will be incredible auction items and exclusive experiences, friendly competition and exciting bids, and opportunities to support student programs and school initiatives. The auction preview will be held at Summerville Catholic School from 6-8PM.

• Karaoke 🎤 | Bolts & Brews Beer Garden: grab the mic and sing your heart out, or sit back and cheer on friends while enjoying your favorite drinks. All styles welcome, all skill levels encouraged, and good vibes guaranteed. Karaoke will start at 5:30PM.

• Kayak Festival | Bell’s Marina & Resort (Eutawville): this 3-day event will feature a guided lake paddle, yoga, games, a community campfire, and a bbq. Attendees are invited to come up for the day, or stay and camp for the whole weekend. This event starts at 4PM and ends on Sunday at 5PM.

• Katie’s Krops Springfest 🌼 | Crossroads Community Church: Springfest is a free, family-friendly, interactive festival that celebrates the heart of Crossroads Community Church mission and the power of their youth-led service. Guests can enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, giveaways, live demonstrations, and opportunities to meet our incredible community partners. This event runs from 9AM-12PM and admission is free.

• Stained Glass Workshop 🖼️ | Bolts and Brews Beer Garden: learn how to cut glass, use a grinder, foil each piece and solder your project together. Add loops and hang for your enjoyment! This event starts at 1PM and tickets are $79.

• Vertical Landscapes Workshop: Staghorn Fern Mount 🌿 | Soil and Soul Exotic Plant Shop: create your own mounted Staghorn Fern, perfect for vertical garden designs. This hands-on experience guides you through mounting techniques and care tips for a unique and stunning display of living wall art. This workshop starts at 5PM and tickets are $36.

• Brandi & Andrew Crawford | Montreux Bar and Grill: Andrew Crawford & Brandi Colt are a husband-and-wife bluegrass duo from Greenville, South Carolina, whose music blends the fire of traditional Appalachian bluegrass with contemporary country and Americana songwriting. They will be playing on the patio starting at 6PM.

• OldSoul | Montreux Bar and Grill: Summerville’s epic Rock & Roll band, OldSoul, returns to their hometown for an exciting night at Montreux! They will be playing on the main stage starting at 10PM.

• Princess Belle Meet & Greet 👸 | Tweedle Beedle: your little royal is invited to an enchanting Princess Party filled with sparkle, creativity, and magical moments. The event begins with 30 minutes of decorating a beautiful jewelry box to take home, followed by each guest receiving a sparkling tiara fit for a true princess. Then the magic truly begins with a one-hour dance party and royal meet & greet with Belle. Enjoy dancing, photos, and unforgettable fairytale fun inside the boutique. This event starts at 2PM and tickets are $50.

• Mother’s Day Photos 📸 | Knightsville Methodist Church: commemorate all the incredible Moms & Mother figures in your life with a beautiful photo by Sandra Linn with LinnPhotography. Photos are $5 each, and all the proceeds will be donated to Knightsville Methodist Church. This event runs from 9-11AM.

• Bingo & Brews for a Cause 🍻 | Bolts and Brews Beer Garden: this event is supporting Laura Meehan, a 2026 Celebrity Dancer for Dancing with The ARK’s Stars. On May 9, Laura will take the stage dancing the Tango with her professional partner, David Roland, competing to win the Mirror Ball Trophy for most funds raised or the Judges’ Choice Award. Any donation will get you a bingo card, and if you donate $20 or more, you’ll also have the chance to win a prize! This event starts at 4PM.

Restaurant Spotlight

If there’s one thing Baker’s BBQ of Summerville understands, it’s that barbecue doesn’t need much explaining when it’s done right. The menu leans into the classics: pulled pork piled high on sandwiches, smoked chicken, ribs, brisket, and plates built for serious appetites. It’s the kind of place where the hard part is deciding whether to go with a sandwich basket or commit to a full platter.

Sides get proper attention here too. Mac and cheese, collards, baked beans, potato salad, fries, and hash over rice give plenty of ways to round things out. If you’re ordering barbecue in South Carolina, hash and rice feels like the move, and Baker’s gives you that option without overcomplicating things.

There’s also enough variety for groups with different cravings. Burgers, wings, hot dogs, salads, and seafood baskets mean not everyone has to be in a barbecue mood to find something worth ordering. “Adessa is a beautiful 4-year-old gal who has been waiting since November for her second chance - and she deserves it more than ever. ♥ Adessa came to us with a fractured leg, but after surgery (and lots of love☺️), she’s made an incredible recovery. She still has a slight limp, but it doesn’t slow down her playful, happy spirit one bit.

She is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but you CAN adopt as a heartworm foster and she will continue her treatment through Dorchester Paws!

She’s strong, gentle, and full of personality—sweet, silly, and always ready to make new paw-some friends. She’s been through a lot, but she hasn’t lost her light. Now she just needs someone to see her, choose her, and give her the home she’s been waiting for!”
