Restaurant Spotlight 🍽

Located at 315 N. Magnolia Street, La Rustica is a family-owned gem blending authentic Italian cuisine with Southern hospitality. Chef Giulio Pellegrini, originally from Italy, and his family brought decades of culinary expertise to Summerville after running a successful restaurant in Seattle for 37 years. Housed in a beautifully restored Southern mansion, the restaurant offers a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with touches of Italian artistry.

La Rustica’s menu features house-made pastas, seafood cioppino, lamb shank, and baked lasagna. Guests especially love the Limoncello Tiramisu, crafted by Janie Pellegrini herself. Every dish is made from scratch using fresh ingredients, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.

The Pellegrini family’s hands-on approach creates a warm, intimate environment that feels like dining with family. Whether you’re enjoying the lush garden patio or the elegant indoor space, La Rustica offers an enchanting escape into Italian culinary traditions.

Featured Pup of the Week: Smoke 🐶

Meet Smoke, the 7-year-old bulldog mix who has been at the shelter for almost two months now!

From Dorchester Paws:

“Hi there, friends! My name is Smoke, and I’m a 75-pound bundle of love, just waiting for my perfect match. I’ve been here since 2/9/2025, and while everyone takes great care of me, I can’t help but dream about a home of my own.

I’m 7 years young—which means I’ve mastered the art of being the best boy. I’m housetrained, crate trained, and great with other dogs, so I’m basically a total catch. I’m the perfect mix of laid-back and playful, always ready for a good stroll, a cozy nap, or some quality time with my favorite people (maybe you?).

If you’ve been looking for a loyal, loving, slightly goofy best friend, I think we’d get along just fine. Come meet me—I’d love to make your heart as full as mine. 💙🐾
